Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) refers to a green gas which is produced when organic waste
such as agricultural residues, animal manure, and food waste decompose in the absence of
oxygen. CBG is compressed under high pressure for use in different sectors. In this essay, we
will discuss the production of Compressed Bio Gas, its applications, and future prospects.
The production of Compressed Bio Gas involves two major steps: raw material collection
and biogas generation. Raw materials can be obtained from various sources like agriculture
wastes (paddy straw, sugarcane trash), cattle dung or sewage sludge. The process involves the
breaking down of organic matter by microorganisms through anaerobic digestion which produces
methane-rich biogas that can be used as fuel.
One of the benefits of CBG production is that it offers an eco-friendly solution to
managing organic waste while producing renewable energy. However, there are some drawbacks
associated with CBG production such as high capital investment costs and limited feedstock
availability.
